ABOUT ME
My name is Elizabeth Furrer, and I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from The Pennsylvania State University in Advertising/Public Relations, and I am currently in my second semester of pursing a M.B.A/M.A. in Journalism/Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations Management at Point Park University. I am currently employed as the Corporate Communications Specialist at PNC Bank in Pittsburgh.
I have two and a half years of professional corporate communications and marketing experience from my current position as well as my past positions as a Marketing & Communications Assistant and Account Executive. My creative background paralleled with my business sense and enthusiasm for developing a brand to its full potential have allowed me to successfully pursue my passion of public relations professionally. At PNC I use my detail-oriented personality and adherence to strict deadlines to track PNC in the media and compile a daily clips report to send to 200+ company executives by 9am. In addition, I track PNC’s media appearances in the Group 1 markets of Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Western Carolina, FL East and FL West and gather the quarterly branch closing efforts report. I use my organizational skills in supporting the external media team in administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, expense reporting and assisting on special projects as needed.
At USG Insurance/Innovations, I worked directly with the graphic designer on website reconstructions and content redesign for USG and contracted clients. I researched and promoted USG’s insurance products, proofread and executed print and electronic marketing materials and assisted on nationally recognized marketing campaigns.
My strong written communication skills are demonstrated not only through writing news releases but researching, interviewing and creative writing for the employee intranet website. In the past I was responsible for composing and sending USG’s bi-monthly employee newsletter, and I have written copy for print advertisements, proposals and research reports. I was a writer and editor on the NAPLSO Next Generation Newsletter Committee where I composed articles appearing in the group’s quarterly newsletters.
Technologically, I have achieved proficiency in the following software applications: Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and Avid. I compile the weekly and monthly Google Analytics report for PNC’s intranet website as well as assist in monitoring PNC’s social media activity through Spredfast. I was the past online systems trainer for new employees at USG and coordinator of our online insurance quoting systems.
